Running Pace Calculator

Goal

Pick a distance and set your goal time with the steppers, or drag left and right on the big pace number to scrub it. Switching distance predicts a new goal from your current one (Riegel's formula), so a 25:00 5K becomes a 1:55 half.

Choose EVEN, SMALL or LARGE under Negative Split to shape the race: a held-back start, a cruise at goal pace, and a kick. The split table shows the pace and elapsed time at every mile or kilometre. Splits always add up to your goal time.

Pace band

Tap PACE BAND at the bottom of the Goal tab, then SHARE. Print it at 100%, cut along the edge, and tape it around your wrist with the finish at the bottom. You can also save it to Photos or AirDrop it.

Convert

Drag on either pace to scrub it; the other unit, race-time equivalents and speeds update as you go.

The Treadmill section works the same way: drag on the incline or use the + and − buttons. It uses the ACSM running equation: each 1% of incline costs about the same effort as running 4.5% faster on the flat. SET BELT TO is the pace to run at that incline to match your flat pace; FEELS LIKE is what your pace at that incline is equivalent to on the flat. A 1% incline is a common stand-in for outdoor air resistance.

Chart

A lookup table of finish times for each distance, with the pace and checkpoint splits for each. Scroll down for slower times and sideways for more checkpoints. Switch units with the MILES / KM buttons.

Light and dark

Tap the moon or sun in the top right to switch themes.
